At home.

Single, aware, and fine. :P

More than the usual, but not because I was sick.

Nope.

Wala naman. I think.

No one I was really close to.

The interclass competition for sport climbing. Courts of Law (to cheer, hehe).

Sadly konti lang. Do I count that time Anna and I stayed at the Trinoma second level food court and listened to Colbie Caillat?

QC. Still a city girl.

Describe your birthday.
My 2008 birthday was uneventful. I was at home doing my thesis.

What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did?
Actually take a stand when I would normally be apathetic. Until now I still wonder where I found the guts to do so, haha.

Any new additions to your family?
Yes, puppies were born April 21. ^_^

What was your best month?
Because of grad, April. All things considered, July.

A lot of them. Hello law school. :P

The Senate Electoral Commission called up the other day, offering me a job.

I guess they didn't get the memo that I entered law school. Haha. Told them that, and they asked if I was studying full-time. Persistent.

Sadly I had just come home from an overnight working on our group's history paper, so I didn't have the presence of mind to ask how they got my contact details, as I never gave out my resume. Hahaha.

My Persons prof made a general comment to the joint class last week: read during your spare time. And we were like, "Spare time? What spare time?" @_@

I'm becoming more of a lurker now. And this is the first time I've gone near the PC in close to a week methinks. The horror.

Fun stuff: making NYU classmate say 'Para' (that was the most coniotic 'para' I've heard in my life LOL), eating at different places from UP to the Katips area (but sadly my eating habits have been thrown off track), 'wala kayo sa lolo ko' jokes taken to another level because we really have a classmate whose grandfather beats all grandfathers (I think they're serious about us going to Ilocos so Mike would tour us and we'd visit Marcos' mausoleum or something haha).

My life is so predictable. (Oh, time's nearly up. Got to study.)

But here's to me reading cases while rooting for Rafael Nadal to win the Wimbledon final later against Roger Federer. Vamos Rafa. XD

Been stuck at home with a rather nasty cough and cold. Highly irritating. Not to mention the headaches.

And the consistently unreliable DSL connection, which is actually less annoying than the support line. (How many times do you really have to say that yes, you have checked the connection and power and whatnot? Are customers automatically presumed to be that stupid?)

So yes. Sick and cranky is not a very good combination for Yas. Hopefully I get better soon.

Highlight of the week

Remember how much I gushed about Once? Today, Ron and I did covers of several songs from the movie as well as a couple other songs. XD Much fun. Behold ronyu's mad all-around music skillz (not only does he sing, he also plays tons of musical instruments!) and my singing (I once again have the urge to seriously learn to play the guitar).

So really, this is shameless pimping of what we did to escape from requirements (for him) and boredom (for me). ROTFL.

Still, our sport climbing class had fun at the interclass competition this morning. Was one of the representatives (our class fielded three teams composed of five people). It was tiring, but fun.

News on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows film

It's official: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be made into two films (sort of like Kill Bill: Vol. I & II).

The movies are to be filmed at the same time, and will be released several months apart, with Part One due November 2010, and Part Two, May 2011.

I just hope these will do justice to the series. Hehe.

In sort-of related news, here are several sneak peeks for the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Apparently this'll be released November of this year. Yay. (Look at the start. Quick Harry and Ginny fluff. Hehe. I wait until the last installments for the fulfillment of Ron/Hermione.)

While enjoying my days of total inactivity, I came across Celtic Thunder, a new group composed of five Irish guys ranging from 14 to 40 (I guess you could say they're a boy band but not quite) who sang at the Today Show's St. Patrick's day episode.

Men who look good in ~~skirts~~ kilts

Seeing how they actually sounded and looked quite good for skirt-wearing guys, I looked them up. :P Their repertoire consists of traditional Irish tunes to pop to contemporary. Getting over the facts that their name sounds oh so testosterone-driven and several numbers border on cheesy, I actually like them. LOL.

Keith Harkin

Keith Harkin, their 20-year-old member, is definitely the teen crowd drawer. Personally, I think he sounds better singing the songs he posted on his Myspace account. Sort of reminds me a bit of Adam Levine in some parts. He's pretty good in the songs he has to sing in their show, some of which are The Island and his own composition, Lauren and I.

Ryan Kelly

As it turns out, one of the gimmicks of the group is pitting the two twenty-eight-year-olds against each other in several numbers. Paul Byrom takes the good guy role, while Ryan Kelly dons the player/bad guy stereotype. ROTFL. Personally, Paul comes off as too smarmy. Plus I like how Ryan sings. And I love his accent. :P

Damian McGinty

Hands down, though, the youngest member of Celtic Thunder is the big hit. Damian McGinty hams it up in his performance of Puppy Love and wins over the audience. You just get this urge to pinch his cheeks. :P

Colbie Caillat and a sense of accomplishment

Went to see Colbie Caillat with cl_water and we ended up just hearing her. Haha. Blame it on giggly high school girls and extremely annoying foreign fangirls who kept shrieking and jumping up and down. -_- Seriously. No one should do that on a packed pathway unless they want to be on the evening news ("Mall balcony gives way, crushes dozens"). They were several feet away from us, but Anna and I literally felt the ground move every time they jumped. Extremely annoying. I managed to video Colbie perform Bubbly and Realize (don't expect much, though, as she was pretty far away).

Today I got the bound copies of my thesis and submitted them at DECL. Ran into Paula on the way there, and she shared my joy. Not sure if she was serious about wanting a copy of my thesis. LOL. I was too elated at finishing the whole thing that I forgot to take a picture of the pretty pretty thesis. :P Hehehe. Months of hard work took the form of a maroon hardbound thesis. But I'm proud of my thesis. I loved the books I analyzed, and the genre more so. Young adult fantasy is always fun to read. ^_^ Plus my thesis exposed me to more writers, particularly the German young adult fantasy writers.

I'm done with my thesis!
